Castle of Belcier

The Château de Belcier was built at the end of the 18th century and belonged for many years to

to an old Bordeaux family related to the Montaigne family. It

was partly rebuilt by François de Belcier, a counter-revolutionary guillotined in 1794

1794, in anticipation of the passage of the King of France. Of classical style marked by

triangular pediments this castle dominates the harmonious landscapes of the commune of

Salles de Castillon where woods and vineyards alternate. Its terroir is exceptional and adjoins that of

of Saint-Emilion. The Côtes de Castillon is one of the oldest wine-producing regions of

of Bordeaux. The Château de Belcier, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, with an area of 67

hectares of which 52 hectares are in production, establishes a perfect balance between the

Merlot and Cabernet-franc grapes. Traditionally aged in French oak barrels,

it is one of the 5 best wines of Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Côtes de

Castillon).

Château de Belcier produces:

- a second wine: Château de Monrecueil, B de Belcier or Les Armoiries de Belcier,

- a Bordeaux and a Bordeaux Supérieur,

- a rosé, Fleurs de Belcier,

- and a special vintage called Pin de Belcier, which is vinified as a Saint-Emilion

grand cru.

MACIF - a mutual insurance company - has owned this château since 1986. It has

invested a lot in the improvement and the maintenance of the vineyard and the cellars, in the respect of

traditions and with the aim of producing high quality wines.

Each year, the wines of Château de Belcier and the second wines win numerous medals, awards and

medals, awards and mentions in the most renowned competitions and in the specialized press

in France and in the world.
