The comment

Vintage 2018 : Great complexity and aromatic subtlety, mixing fruit, floral, mentholated and spicy notes, tight and elegant tannic structure, great aromatic persistence, freshness. Refined but powerful, great potential.

Presentation of the wine

Located in the commune of Saint-Sauveur near Pauillac and its famous crus classés, this property, which used to be made up of scattered parcels from the former properties of Ramage, La Bâtisse and Tourteran, is now a single block.

In the center of the property stands an 18th century Carthusian monastery. The mutual insurance company MACIF, owner since 1986, has made great efforts to improve and maintain the vineyard as well as the vat room and the cellars in the Bordeaux tradition.

The wines

The motto of the property could be summarized as follows: Rigor and Quality. We practice here a low pruning and a thinning out of the leaves before the harvest, in order to obtain a better maturity.

The harvest is mechanical and manual with a sorting of the grapes in the cellar. The traditional vinification, with a personalized follow-up of each vat, is carried out in thermoregulated vats, followed by a vatting at 28°, from 12 to 21 days. 30% of the harvest undergoes malolactic fermentation in new barrels, which gives the wine finesse and

smoothness.

The property produces a second wine, called L'Enclos de Ramage,R de Ramage and a delicious rosé, La Rosée de Ramage. Each year the wines of Ramage la Bâtisse are rewarded by medals and citations in the best guides and specialized magazines, both in France and abroad.

The comment

Vintage 2012 : Superb complex and open nose, offering a ripe and subtle fruit as well as woody. Full, fleshy, dense mouthfeel, with a nice grain of tannins, vigor, persistent aromas and good balance. An energetic and elegant Ramage.
